– Michael “Aaron” Crute
Each transaction is a unique journey in the world of real estate. As President and Co-founder of The Welcome Home Atlanta Team Michael “Aaron” Crute aptly puts it, “Homeownership should be an empowering and inspiring journey, and I want to make it accessible and enjoyable for as many people as possible, regardless of their background.” Michael’s commitment to transforming real estate experiences into seamless and fulfilling endeavors is evident in his dedication to creating stress-free transitions for busy professionals and senior leaders.
Michael’s journey in real estate is guided by a deep-rooted passion for facilitating smooth moves and making his clients the stars of the show. With a background in journalism and mass communication from the Grady College of Journalism and Mass Communication at the University of Georgia, Michael brings a unique perspective to his real estate practice and leverages his expertise to enhance client experiences.
Join us in exploring Michael’s insights and strategies as he shares his vision for empowering individuals and transforming the real estate landscape one smooth move at a time.
SM: Michael, can you share with us what initially inspired you to pursue a career in real estate?
MC: My career in real estate started quite by accident. I never set out to build a real estate business because I was very happy in my role as a Project Manager for government and public sector clients. However, after helping my first family, I was hooked. I’ve always been inspired by people’s stories and our shared humanity. I found immense fulfillment in using my experience in marketing, advertising, consulting, and project management to demystify the real estate process and make it a fun and exciting journey for people.
SM: What do you find most rewarding about helping busy professionals and senior leaders navigate real estate transactions?
MC: The most rewarding aspect of helping busy professionals, senior leaders, and rising stars in corporations navigate the real estate market is giving them back the gift of time. This time is invaluable, allowing them to be more present with their families and less stressed about the real estate process. Knowing they have someone trustworthy keeping them informed and advocating for them at a high level provides an overwhelming sense of relief, which brings me the most joy.

SM: Your team is known for creating stress-free real estate experiences. What strategies do you use to ensure this for your clients?
MC: We focus on doing the fundamentals exceptionally well. As experts in our field, we constantly educate ourselves on the best strategies and tools to create bespoke solutions for our clients. Overcommunication is one of our core principles; we ensure everyone is on the same page. Additionally, we develop our soft skills in emotional intelligence, empathy, and communication, grounded in DBT and CBT therapy practices, to manage client stress and create beneficial outcomes. Our authenticity, humility, and willingness to admit when we don’t know something also contribute significantly to a stress-free experience.
SM: Can you describe a particularly memorable or challenging transaction you’ve handled and how you achieved a successful outcome?
MC: My first transaction, during the height of the pandemic, was the most challenging of my career. My client needed to move for personal reasons, including a better custody case for his children. After securing a home, the seller backed out a week before closing. With only 35 days left on my client’s lease, I quickly found another suitable property and negotiated better terms. We closed with a week to spare, demonstrating how responsiveness and strong relationships within the real estate community can turn a stressful situation into a successful outcome.
SM: The Welcome Home Atlanta Team is dedicated to inclusivity. How do you ensure your services cater to diverse demographics?
MC: We pride ourselves on serving the whole person, understanding their goals, dreams, fears, and desires. By connecting deeply with our clients, we create moments of surprise and delight tailored to their specific needs and cultural requirements. We build connections with people from all backgrounds, advocating for exceptional care for everyone. This approach ensures our services are inclusive and equitable.
SM: How do you leverage your background in journalism and mass communication to enhance your real estate practice?
MC: My background in advertising from the Grady School of Journalism and Mass Communications at the University of Georgia is invaluable. Advertising is about getting the right message to the right person at the right time, which I apply daily in real estate. My expertise helps us create innovative programs, services, and strategies, resulting in our homes selling faster and for more money than competitors. I credit this success to my education and skill set in advertising and communications.
SM: You’ve received several accolades throughout your career. Could you share more about any specific awards or milestones that hold significant meaning to you?
MC: The award I am most proud of is one I received when leaving my last job at a global consulting firm to start my real estate career. The CEO created this award to recognize my contributions, and it remains a significant milestone. This recognition gave me the confidence to venture into real estate, and I will always cherish it as it laid the foundation for my current success.
SM: What advice would you give to other real estate agents who want to provide exceptional service and support to their clients?
MC: LOVE your clients: Listen, Observe, Validate, and Empathize. Remove yourself from the equation and focus entirely on your client. Exceptional service requires understanding and catering to clients’ specific needs, empowering them throughout the process. Listen more, observe more, and seize opportunities to surprise your clients with your attentiveness.

SM: How do you stay informed about the latest trends and developments in the real estate market to better serve your clients?
MC: My team and I are committed to continuous education. We each take a continuing education class every month, learning at four times the rate of an average real estate agent. This ongoing education enables us to serve our clients better, grow our business, and create a positive impact in our community.
SM: Looking ahead, what are your goals for The Welcome Home Atlanta Team, and how do you plan to continue making a positive impact in the community?
MC: My ultimate goal for The Welcome Home Atlanta Team is to operate sustainably at $2 million per year, helping around 200 families annually. Once we reach this milestone, I aim to franchise our business to provide our Best-in-Class experiences in 10 major cities across the U.S. Homeownership should be an empowering and inspiring journey, and I want to make it accessible and enjoyable for as many people as possible, regardless of their background.
