“Unheard speaks directly to the heart—it’s a powerful reminder that no matter how alone we may feel, there is always someone out there who understands and is willing to listen.”
-Bhavini Bhargava
Bhavini Bhargava’s poetry collection Unheard was named the BREW Readers’ Choice Award Book of the Month for September 2024 and subsequently awarded the 2024–2025 Book of the Year after garnering over 10,000 global readers’ votes. The collection explores themes of love, loss, and self-discovery.
In this interview, Bhargava discusses the inspiration behind Unheard and its impact on readers.
Can you share how your book highlights important themes or issues?
Unheard encases the themes of love, loss, and the struggles of everyday life. Written by me, an anonymous author, the poems are beautifully crafted and deeply moving, evoking emotions that are both powerful and poignant.
One of the standout features of Unheard is its ability to capture the essence of the human experience with raw honesty and vulnerability. The poems are full of introspection and self-reflection, exploring the complexities of the human heart with remarkable depth and nuance.
The language in Unheard is also a thing of beauty. The use of imagery and metaphor is masterful, and the poems are filled with lines that are both striking and memorable. There is a musical quality to the language—as if each poem is a carefully composed symphony, with every word and phrase working in perfect harmony to create a powerful emotional impact.
Unheard speaks directly to the heart. It is a powerful reminder that no matter how alone we may feel, there is always someone out there who understands and is willing to listen. It is both comforting and challenging, inviting readers to explore the depths of their own emotions and to connect with the world around them in new and meaningful ways.
Overall, Unheard is a must-read for anyone who loves poetry. It is a stunning collection that will leave a lasting impression on your heart and soul.

What do you believe sets your work apart in terms of addressing significant topics?
The themes, the depth of words, the ability to connect with people, and the emotional component.
Every book aims to showcase impactful stories or themes that resonate with readers. How do you think your book accomplishes this goal?
Unheard is my journey through the turmoils of teenage life. Readers easily connect to it.
Can you discuss the key messages or themes in your book that you believe are particularly relevant in today’s society?
Poems like Sunflower showcase a resilient mindset. Energy reinforces belief in God. Stigma tells the harsh realities of today’s society, and Dream or a Sign? leads to introspection.
How do you plan to continue engaging with readers and promoting discussions around the topics explored in your book?
I plan to do podcasts and discuss the topics in book clubs. Further social media promotion to deliver key messages is in the pipeline. I’ve also been presented with an opportunity to feature on an OTT channel.
What do you hope readers will take away from your book after reading it?
They will be encouraged to never give up in life, however difficult the circumstances.
A book is potent when it encourages meaningful dialogue and reflection. How do you think your book inspires readers to engage with important issues and ideas?
Most of the poems in Unheard ask individuals to reflect on their lives and introspect.

In what ways do you envision your book making a lasting impact or contributing to positive change in the literary landscape or society as a whole?
Unheard is my journey of coming back when all the chips were down and never giving up. It delves into the emotional complexities and vulnerabilities of teenage life, drawing parallels between the highs and lows of sports and personal growth. The book reflects my journey as an athlete and resonates with readers due to its raw honesty and emotional depth.
What advice would you give to aspiring authors who hope to create impactful and thought-provoking work?
My advice to young authors is to embrace their passions wholeheartedly. Pursue academic and artistic interests alongside sports, as each endeavour contributes to personal growth and holistic development. Set clear goals, manage time effectively, and cultivate a support network of mentors and peers who inspire and encourage you to excel in all aspects of life.
