Submission Guidelines

Review Requests: Authors, publishers, and publicists may submit requests for reviews of books to us. You can send requests using our online form.

Genres We Review: Our book reviews encompass almost all book genres and aim to bring attention to impactful narratives, thought-provoking ideas, and stories that contribute to a deeper understanding of the world. However, acceptance of your book depends on the available reviewers’ preferences and circumstances.

Accepted formats: We prefer eBooks in PDF, ePub, or MOBI for us to read and review the book right away, so please provide us with an electronic copy. Always remember, though, that sending in a book copy does not ensure that it will be reviewed.

Spotlyts Story Award & Story of the Year Nomination

At Spotlyts Magazine, we don’t just review books—we celebrate the stories that truly resonate with us. When a book captures our attention and imagination, it doesn’t just earn a place in our reviews—it also becomes a contender for the Spotlyts Story Award. Our most beloved books are automatically nominated for this prestigious award, highlighting them as exceptional examples of storytelling.

Additionally, these standout books are also automatically considered for the Story of the Year title, which is determined by popularity and impact. So, if your book earns a glowing review from us, it could very well go on to receive this special recognition!

Review Process

Selection Criteria: Our editorial team carefully selects books that align with our mission of highlighting meaningful, real-world stories or those from other genres that feel relatable to us in the real world. We prioritize works that offer unique perspectives, compelling narratives, or shed light on important issues. To help as many books and authors as possible, we impose a limit of up to 1 review per book across all our participating platforms, 1 book per author, and 1 author per publisher/company/organization.

Timing: Due to the volume of submissions, reviews are generally reviewed within 6-8 weeks of receiving the book, but the actual posting on our website may take up to 12 months after.

Reviewer Integrity: Our reviewers maintain high ethical standards and independence. We do not accept payment for reviews to ensure that each review is unbiased and objective.

In all cases, we provide a free copy of the book to our reviewers as a standard practice. Thus, we no longer disclose this in the review itself because the presence or lack of a freebie no longer has an effect on the review’s impartiality.

Honest Reviews: At Spotlyts Magazine, we prioritize providing honest and thoughtful reviews that reflect the true essence of a book. Our reviewers are not required to follow a specific format, so each review may vary based on the reviewer’s personal writing style and unique impressions of the book. Each review is the individual reviewer’s honest perspective.

We do not provide private feedback, as our reviews are meant to be publicly shared with our readers. We only review books that we believe deserve 5 out of 5 stars. From these books that receive perfect scores, we select our Spotlyts Story Award winners, celebrating the best of the best in storytelling.
